Finding Life Purpose Quote from James Redfield.
He is the Author of uber famous The Celestine Prophecy and very widely respected as a writer, actor, screen writer and thought leader.
He writes a lot about purpose and vision in his very successful Celestine series of books.
Once you have learned what your life is about there is no way to erase the knowledge.
No matter how afraid you become you have no choice.
If you try to do something different with your life, you will always sense there is something missing
Finding life purpose is easier than you think.
Clues are everywhere in your life and the reality is you do already know the answers, you are just not hearing or seeing them.
So in order to access the answers, you need to listen more, observe more and pay much more attention to your world around you.
Your perfect business idea can link seamlessly into your purpose in life but you need to give yourself the time and mental space to hear it and feel it.
Once you get “what you should be doing with your life”, you can build your business around your world and not your world around your business.
One thing is for sure though…
You won’t find it watching TV or sitting over a glass of chilled white moaning to your friends for the hundredth time.
Move yourself away from the noise and chaos, you need some quiet introspection.
How many times have you asked the question?
What is my purpose in life? Or what is my life purpose?
The simple answer as I understand it is, and really, if you think about it more deeply, the answer is really the same for everyone in the world
The purpose of human life is to serve others
I think Robert Kennedy said it best
"The purpose of human life is to contribute in some way to making things better"
So based on that premise, the problem most people have is not necessarily what the purpose is; the problem is how to express it
Some people are blessed with the knowledge very early on in their lives and they pursue it with passion and without hesitation from the start.
They are often blessed with opportunity, sometimes the right connections, and probably some luck.
It is not though, necessarily about how much money they have.
They know, instinctively, what they are born to do and don’t allow anything else to get in the way.
They just cannot avoid it because it shows up very clearly in their life at an early age
Most of us though, if we seek it, end up finding life purpose at a much later stage in our life.
Others never even get a look in during their entire lifetime.
Lack of opportunity perhaps, lack of support in some way or lack of confidence often one of the biggest problems.
Or indeed some have an absolute lack of interest in finding their purpose in life.
Some people never seek it, they happy living with the status quo and take life as it is given to them.
These are the people who have a fixed mindset.
That is definitely not you though is it or you wouldn’t be here?
In my opinion...
There are few schools in this world that offer a lesson called finding life purpose.
I have often said of school, the subject should be on the curriculum in every school in the world.
You know, around that crucial time when you have to make choices around what subjects you are going take in your last couple of years.
Unless you are one of those lucky ones I mentioned who know really early on where they want their life to go, you are left to wander hopelessly through life without a map.
Parents and teachers and others in your life are not generally equipped with the knowledge to help you in the best way.
Those crucial years are the perfect time to start addressing with parents, teachers and friends, how to go about finding life purpose.
So if you would like a bit of help along this road, I can offer you this bit of an exercise to get you thinking.
Get yourself a special notebook and pen/open a folder on your PC or start a monologue with your phone recording software.
You are going to start a deeply personal project centred just around you and only you for a change.
On the first blank area , have a heading
My purpose in life
And then ask yourself these 11 question with absolutely no censoring your thoughts and get the answers down so you can see or hear them and in no particular order.
You want to feel the answers as they come up to the surface.
You cannot logically think out your purpose!
Don’t expect to get all the answers straight away.
When you get really serious with yourself it may take days/weeks/months of digging for the true and heartfelt answers.
It can all take lots of time.
And when you have done asking yourself, ask others, who know you really well.
Ask them about how they observe how and what you do.
Ask them about what they see you being or doing.
But please don’t ask the negative people in your life!
You don’t need their input, believe me.
Nothing they can say will help your cause for now.
On another note, can I throw in this caveat about finding life purpose?
Please don’t assume it comes with a job title and don't assume your hobby is the answer either.
Not everyone in the world will be a doctor, lawyer, the next Richard Branson or Mark Zuckerberg or something with a fancy name attached to it.
Sometimes your hobby should be left as your hobby because you love doing it.
For the purpose of helping you work your business idea around it, it is more about tuning into what you can do that is completely effortless and you enjoy doing it and would happily do it for money.
It will be something you would love to turn into a product or service or both to solve a problem for a particular group of people.
This is the service part of finding life purpose.
Can you see how everyone is here to serve but you need to find your vehicle in life to express it?
You will surprise yourself when you find the answers because they have been there all along waiting patiently for you to shine your light on to them.
The very essence of you will be found in these answers.
Now you have done all this hard work, make sure you do justice to them and don’t let yourself wither on the vine because it is all too much effort.
Now is the time to step into your purpose and bring your special thing into being, because there are people waiting for just for you to show up for them.
You know what they say, fortune favours the bold
Be bold
